Apple Develops Ultra Hardware Line Including Foldable iPhone

Apple Inc. is reportedly developing a premium "Ultra" hardware ecosystem designed to introduce a foldable iPhone, camera-equipped AirPods, and a touchscreen MacBook. These devices are expected to roll out between late 2026 and early 2027, though conflicting reports exist regarding the specific timing of the smartphone release.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to be the company's first foldable device. Specifications vary by source, with one report citing a 7.7-inch internal display and another from luxury brand Caviar claiming a 7.8-inch inner display and 5.3-inch outer display using 120Hz LTPO OLED panels. Caviar further alleges the phone will feature a titanium body, an A20 Pro processor, and a 5,800mAh battery. While some reports suggest a broader rollout through 2027, Caviar claims a launch date of September 9, 2026, and has already begun accepting deposits for customized versions.

Other components of the Ultra lineup include AirPods featuring infrared cameras to enhance Siri's Visual Intelligence and a MacBook equipped with an OLED touchscreen and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. The laptop is also expected to include a proprietary C2 modem for direct cellular connectivity. The iPhone Ultra is projected to carry a US price tag between $1,999 and $2,499.
