Houthi Militia Fires Missiles at Bab el-Mandeb and Mocha

The Houthi militia launched five ballistic missiles and drones targeting the city of Mocha and the strategic Bab el-Mandeb strait on August 17, 2026. The attacks targeted the West Coast of Yemen and international shipping lanes, creating security concerns for maritime traffic in the Red Sea.

Reconnaissance teams from the Taiz Military Axis detected missiles fired from Houthi-controlled positions in the Al-Houban area east of Taiz city. Specifically, launches occurred from a former command post of the 170th Air Defense Brigade in Jabal Oman, with additional missiles reportedly fired from Ibb city.
