Conservatives Overtake Reform UK in 2029 Election Polling
The Conservative Party rose to second place in YouGov polling for the 2029 General Election, trailing the Labour Party by one percentage point.
YouGov polling conducted between October 11 and 12 shows the Conservative Party has risen to 23 per cent support for the 2029 General Election. This surge places the party in second place, overtaking Reform UK, which now sits at 21 per cent. The Labour Party maintains a narrow lead with 24 per cent of the vote.
Other parties trail significantly, with the Liberal Democrats at 12 per cent, the Greens at 11 per cent, and the SNP at 3 per cent. Mike Starkie, a Conservative candidate for the upcoming Cumbria mayoral election, attributed the increase to the popularity of party leader Kemi Badenoch. Starkie predicted the Conservatives will move into the lead following the Autumn Budget.
The polling results emerge as candidates prepare for the May 2027 election of the Mayor of Cumbria. The race for the Cumbria Combined Authority includes Starkie, Labour's David Allen, Libby Bateman for the Liberal Democrats, and Dr Mark Borthwick for the Greens.
