Meta Acquires AI Coding Startup Conductor
Meta acquired AI coding startup Conductor to integrate its multi-agent parallel workspace technology into the company's broader AI development strategy.
Meta acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that allows software engineers to deploy multiple AI agents into parallel workspaces to collaborate on separate project components. Unlike many AI platforms, Conductor utilizes agents from external labs such as OpenAI and Anthropic rather than relying on in-house models.
Following the acquisition, Conductor CEO Charlie Holtz announced that the startup's cloud service will shut down on November 20, at which point user cloud data will be deleted. Holtz stated that core features will remain functional until the shutdown and that new interfaces are planned for release by early next year.
The move is part of a larger effort by Meta to accelerate its AI capabilities, following the launch of Muse Code and the acquisition of the agent platform Moltbook. The Conductor team will work alongside Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang and Nat Friedman, the head of product at Meta's Superintelligence Labs.
