SpaceX Insiders to Unlock 319 Million Shares September 9
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. will allow insiders to sell 319 million shares on September 9 as part of an accelerated post-IPO unlock schedule.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. will reach a share-unlock milestone on September 9, 2026, permitting select insiders to sell an additional 319 million shares. This event follows a record-breaking initial public offering on June 12 that raised $85.7 billion.
Rather than using a standard 180-day lockup period, the company implemented a staggered, accelerated schedule for insider sales. This September unlock follows previous milestones on August 4 and August 20. Additional unlocks are scheduled for September 24, October 9, and October 26.
Analysts warn that these sales could flood the market and harm retail investors, noting that the initial float was kept artificially low at less than 5% of outstanding shares. While the company has entered several major indexes, it remains excluded from the S&P 500. Founder Elon Musk is excluded from these early share-unlock sales.
