Pathways to Equity Launches Appeal to Save Ithaca Times
Pathways to Equity is seeking public donations to prevent the closure of the Ithaca Times and five other community newspapers facing rising operational costs.
Pathways to Equity, the nonprofit parent organization of the Ithaca Times, has launched a public fundraising campaign to prevent the closure of six community newspapers. The organization is seeking donations to cover payroll and printing expenses while preserving 55 years of archives as the Ithaca Times searches for a new office.
Acting Executive Director Roy Allen stated that the publications face an uncertain future driven by increasing printing and distribution costs and the shift of advertising toward national digital platforms. The appeal aims to sustain the Ithaca Times along with the Trumansburg Free Press, Ovid Gazette, Interlaken Review, Tompkins Independent, and News Chronicle.
