OpenAI President Greg Brockman Withdraws $25 Million PAC Pledge
Greg Brockman withdrew a pledged $25 million donation to the pro-AI super PAC Leading the Future following internal criticism from OpenAI employees.
OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman has withdrawn a pledged $25 million donation to Leading the Future, a pro-AI super PAC. Brockman and his wife, Anna, previously contributed $25 million to the group in 2025 and had committed to a second payment of the same amount.
The decision follows internal criticism from OpenAI employees, some of whom donated to the Guardrails Alliance, a rival super PAC established to counter Leading the Future. In a June Slack message to staff, Brockman stated that the super PAC had become a "distraction" for the company.
Leading the Future advocates for congressional candidates who support favorable AI regulation and opposes strict pre-deployment safety mandates. OpenAI has publicly distanced itself from the group, stating it does not direct the PAC's activities and that no outside political group represents the company's views. While Brockman continues to support "team humanity" and has aligned himself with the Trump administration, the company is attempting to maintain a middle ground amid increasing scrutiny over AI safety and lobbying.
