FairFuelUK Mobilizes 30,000 Drivers to Demand Fuel Duty Cuts
FairFuelUK is lobbying the UK government for fuel duty cuts and a new price regulator ahead of the October 28 Budget.
More than 30,000 drivers, families, and business owners have joined a campaign organized by FairFuelUK to demand fuel duty cuts before the October 28 Budget. The group is calling on the Prime Minister and Chancellor John Healey to implement an immediate fuel duty cut, establish a permanent freeze on the duty, and create a regulator called PumpWatch with legal powers to prevent excessive fuel pricing.
FairFuelUK founder Howard Cox argues that affordable road transport is essential for economic growth and inflation control. He specifically highlighted the plight of drivers in rural areas, such as Wales, who lack viable public transport alternatives. Cox is also seeking a government meeting to discuss the implementation of a 20-Year Transport Strategy.
The Government of the United Kingdom has not yet confirmed whether any of these proposals will be adopted as policy in the upcoming Budget.
