Yogi Adityanath Launches Bharat Taxi and Farmer Loan Scheme

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Bharat Taxi service and the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana on September 23 in Lucknow. Bharat Taxi, operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, is a driver-ownership ride-hailing platform that eliminates driver commissions and provides social security coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh. The service commenced operations in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Kanpur with approximately 40,000 registered drivers. To support the rollout, the service signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Lucknow Police, Lucknow Metro, and the airport authority.

Simultaneously, the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana reduces interest rates on long-term loans for small and marginal farmers from 11 per cent to six per cent via the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Rural Development Bank. The scheme targets five lakh farmers. Adityanath also announced that interest-free cash credit for Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and noted that 15 of 16 previously inactive cooperative banks have returned to profitability.

To further digitize the sector, the Chief Minister launched the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Database Centre and the Urvarak Setu mobile application. Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol noted that since its February 2026 launch, the Bharat Taxi initiative has attracted over 10 lakh drivers and 40 lakh passengers, with more than Rs 100 crore credited directly to driver accounts.
