Missouri Department of Transportation Hires Hundreds for Winter Operations

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced it is seeking applicants for hundreds of full-time winter maintenance and emergency equipment operator positions across the state. While the recruitment focuses on winter operations, the agency noted that these roles may convert to year-round employment for tasks including mowing and striping.

Starting hourly salaries begin at $20, with pay increases available after one year for entry and intermediate-level employees depending on their experience and operational area. Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal background check. The department clarified that misdemeanor or felony convictions do not automatically disqualify applicants.

New hires receive a benefits package that includes paid leave and medical, vision, and dental insurance. The agency also provides position-specific training to ensure operators can maintain the highway system effectively.
