Googlebook Launches With Android Integration and App Compatibility Issues

Google launched the Googlebook laptop with deep Android integration, though early users report compatibility gaps for Samsung devices and the Slack application.

The Google laptop, branded as the Googlebook, has launched with a focus on deep Android integration through its Better Together feature set. These capabilities include remote file access, instant hotspot, and notification syncing. However, early adopters report that these features require Android 17 and are currently unsupported on Samsung devices.

Google confirmed that support for Samsung devices running Android 17 will be added to the Googlebook over the coming weeks. Beyond hardware integration, the laptop lacks support for both the Slack application and its web app. Google attributed this incompatibility to the app not being PWA compliant and promised a manual installation fix in the near future.

Additional performance concerns have emerged among early users, who report optimization issues with various applications running on the device's Intel hardware.
