Ukraine Shifts Military Production to Europe via NATO Integration

Ukraine is transitioning from a model of receiving external military aid to deep military-industrial integration with European partners and NATO. This strategy aims to protect critical production from Russian strikes by relocating defense manufacturing to Europe through joint ventures and the German-funded Build with Ukraine program.

Key projects include the production of Linza drones by Quantum Frontline Industries in Germany and the manufacture of Bohdan self-propelled howitzers by PK MIL SA in Poland. Additionally, the startup Fire Point is developing missile systems utilizing technology from Germany, Sweden, France, and Norway.

Beyond hardware, the military is adopting NATO technical standards to embed Western command-and-control architectures. On May 29, 2025, Ukraine signed an agreement to utilize the CRC System Interface software and Link 16 Tactical Data Link, integrating Western equipment with its own Delta battlefield management system.
