Lisa Nandy Pledges Doxxing Crackdown After X Skips Meeting

UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy pledged to tighten laws against online doxxing and harassment after the social media platform X failed to attend a government meeting on the subject. Nandy described the company's absence as an "absolute disgrace."

The government meeting was convened following a wave of abuse directed at Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers by anti-migrant vigilantes. Nandy stated that social media companies currently apply inconsistent standards and terms of service regarding online hatred directed at individuals.

To protect police officers, public sector workers, and charity volunteers, Nandy vowed to ensure that private information, such as home addresses, is blocked or removed immediately. She emphasized that the government will not allow the publication of personal addresses online to continue unchecked.
