William Ruto Accuses Uhuru Kenyatta of Sponsoring Political Opposition

President William Ruto accused retired President Uhuru Kenyatta of financing opposition movements and failing to deliver key social projects during a rally in Uasin Gishu County.

President William Ruto accused retired President Uhuru Kenyatta of sponsoring political opponents and the Linda Mwananchi movement during a series of addresses to residents in Uasin Gishu County. Speaking in Eldoret and surrounding areas, Ruto questioned Kenyatta's record on Universal Health Coverage, education, and affordable housing, urging voters to judge leaders by their actual achievements rather than slogans.

Opposition figures and the Jubilee Party quickly rejected the allegations. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who leads the Linda Mwananchi brigade, stated that Kenyatta's involvement is limited to encouraging youth leadership and does not include financial assistance. Jubilee Party Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta argued that the current administration is using the retired president as a distraction from pressing national issues such as taxation, employment, and the cost of living.

The Jubilee Party further claimed that the government's focus on Kenyatta is an attempt to avoid looking into the former president's own record. This escalation in rhetoric comes as Kenya Kwanza leaders continue to link Kenyatta to opposition mobilization ahead of the 2027 General Election.
