Samsung Plans Camera Overhaul for Galaxy S27 Series
Samsung Electronics may replace its proprietary ISOCELL sensors with Sony hardware for the upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone series, according to leaked internal documents.
Internal documents and reports indicate that Samsung Electronics is planning a significant hardware overhaul for its upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone lineup, internally codenamed NM1 through NM4 for New Miracle or Next Miracle. The company may deviate from its long-standing use of proprietary ISOCELL sensors by adopting Sony-supplied 50-megapixel primary camera sensors for the standard Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus models.
The high-end Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are expected to feature a 16-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX855 ultrawide sensor. Reports suggest the S27 Ultra will streamline its camera array from four lenses to three, utilizing a 200-megapixel main sensor paired with a 50-megapixel telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens.
Additional rumored specifications include the use of Exynos 2700 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processors. The entire lineup may also incorporate a Privacy Display designed to restrict viewing angles, though some users have criticized this hardware for causing eye strain. Samsung typically announces its S-series devices in early year, with the S27 series anticipated for early 2027.
