Oxfordshire Businesses Receive Low Food Hygiene Ratings

Local councils in Oxfordshire issued several poor food hygiene ratings to businesses following inspections in August 2026, citing urgent needs for safety management improvements.

Environmental health officers from three local councils issued several low food hygiene ratings to businesses across Oxfordshire following inspections in August 2026. The Food Standards Agency rating system was used to evaluate the establishments, with several receiving scores indicating a need for major improvements in food safety management.

Track & Tonic on Park End Street received the lowest possible score of zero-out-of-five, with inspectors citing a need for urgent improvement in the cleanliness and condition of its facilities. Other businesses, including The Chef Imperial Restaurant, Wolvercote Local, Bicester Pizza House, The Woodstock Arms, and Pokhara Delight, each received one-out-of-five ratings.

In Banbury, Fairway Premier also received a one-out-of-five rating. While inspectors found the building's cleanliness and food handling to be "generally satisfactory", they determined that the management of food safety required "major improvement". This marks a decline for the store, which had previously received a three-out-of-five rating in 2024.

The inspections were conducted by Oxford City Council, West Oxfordshire District Council, and Cherwell District Council.
