Vanguard ETF Increases SpaceX Holdings by 38.9 Percent
The Vanguard Communication Services ETF aggressively increased its SpaceX holdings following the company's June 2026 initial public offering.
The Vanguard Group significantly expanded its position in Space Exploration Technologies Corp. through its Communication Services ETF following the company's initial public offering on June 12, 2026. Between June 30 and August 31, the ETF increased its holdings from 632,077 shares to 1,170,398 shares, marking a 38.9% increase in a single month.
This accumulation is driven by the gradual unlocking of SpaceX shares, which has increased the public float and enabled the ETF to raise its weighting. With a current market capitalization of $2 trillion, SpaceX has become the eighth-largest holding in the fund.
Analysts expect SpaceX to eventually rank as a top-three holding in the ETF. Once weighted by its full market cap, the company could represent 15% to 20% of the fund, placing it alongside Alphabet and Meta Platforms as a dominant entity in the communications sector.
