Iran Launches Diplomatic Push to End Yemen Conflict

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held calls with regional leaders to facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Houthi forces to stabilize the Middle East.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi conducted a series of diplomatic calls with regional counterparts between October 12 and October 14 to discuss de-escalation in the Middle East. The outreach focused specifically on ending the conflict in Yemen, which has been characterized by air operations and attacks on energy infrastructure.

Araghchi spoke with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi on Wednesday. This followed conversations on Tuesday with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, as well as a call on Sunday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The discussions centered on easing tensions, reinforcing regional security, and initiating dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei supported these efforts, expressing concern over incidents in the Arabian Peninsula. Baghaei reiterated that Iran is ready to use its good offices to facilitate dialogue between the warring parties to achieve a lasting peace.
