India Advises Citizens to Exit Iran Amid U.S. Strikes

The Indian government issued a travel advisory urging citizens to postpone non-essential travel to Iran and suggesting that nationals currently in the country consider temporary evacuation. The Indian Embassy in Tehran specifically advised citizens to avoid military-active zones along the southern coast and register for emergency communications as the security environment deteriorates.

This diplomatic response follows a series of U.S. military operations targeting Iran. United States Central Command conducted strikes for eight consecutive nights, hitting coastal surveillance, air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites. These operations targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in retaliation for attacks on U.S. service members in Jordan on July 17. By Monday, the conflict escalated into a ninth consecutive day of strikes following the collapse of a month-old interim ceasefire agreement.

In response to the strikes, Iran ceased fulfilling its obligations under a peace memorandum of understanding with the United States, citing American violations. Simultaneously, regional instability has spread to the Strait of Hormuz, where reports of two exploding and immobilized oil tankers have disrupted global energy supplies.
