Femi Gbajabiamila Files N15 Billion Defamation Suit Against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi

Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila is suing Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi for N15 billion following allegations that the official demanded a 48 percent kickback from a federal grant.

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, has filed a N15 billion defamation lawsuit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja. The suit seeks N10 billion in general damages and N5 billion in aggravated damages, as well as a public retraction and apology.

The legal action follows a June 25, 2026, press conference by Adeyemi, who identifies as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded a 48 percent kickback from a N27.3 billion federal agency take-off grant, claiming N400 million was paid via a proxy and another N200 million was requested for presidential approvals. Adeyemi further alleged that an intermediary, Babatunde Tanimola, died in a suspicious fire in Abuja and that Gbajabiamila manipulated security agencies to block investigations.

Gbajabiamila denies all claims, asserting he has never met or communicated with Adeyemi. The Chief of Staff's legal team notes that Adeyemi admitted in a social media interview that he had not personally verified Gbajabiamila's identity. Court documents reveal that Adeyemi is currently facing separate criminal charges in a Federal High Court for allegedly forging presidential documents and appointment letters. He was recently arrested by the Nigerian Police Force in Osun State following a warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
