IndiGo Reservation Platform Suffers Repeated Technical Outages
IndiGo experienced two separate technical disruptions to its core reservation platform this week, preventing passengers from booking flights and completing online check-ins.
The core reservation platform of IndiGo, India's largest airline, suffered two separate technical disruptions this week. The first outage occurred on Wednesday, August 19, and a second disruption followed on Friday, August 21. Both incidents prevented passengers from booking flights, completing web check-ins, and accessing the airline's mobile application, with many users reporting "no data available" messages and payment confirmation failures.
IndiGo acknowledged the intermittent issues and stated that its teams are working with a technology partner to resolve the problems. The airline advised passengers with urgent travel needs to contact its call center and suggested others attempt to access the website or app later. The carrier has not provided a specific cause or a timeline for full restoration.
These failures occur during a period of operational and regulatory pressure for the airline. CEO Willie Walsh assumed leadership on August 3, following a December crisis where poor pilot roster planning led to approximately 4,500 flight cancellations. Additionally, the Competition Commission of India is conducting an antitrust probe to determine if the airline used its dominant market share to create artificial scarcity and inflate ticket prices during those December disruptions. In response, IndiGo has proposed a settlement commitment plan and the creation of a crisis management group.
