Shadowbox Studios Proposes 651-Megawatt Georgia Data Center
Shadowbox Studios plans to build a 651-megawatt data center in DeKalb County, Georgia, facing regulatory hurdles from local officials.
Shadowbox Studios, an Atlanta-based film studio known for producing "Loki" and "Cocaine Bear," is attempting to enter the data center industry. Backed by Silver Lake and Commonwealth Asset Management, the company proposes constructing a facility with a capacity of up to 651 megawatts in DeKalb County, Georgia.
The project is slated for a site where the studio previously planned to build a sound stage complex. The shift in development goals comes as the company leverages its financial partnerships with the private equity firm Silver Lake and the hedge fund Commonwealth Asset Management.
However, the proposal faces resistance from local government. DeKalb County officials are currently struggling to establish the necessary regulations to manage the influx of new data centers into the region.
