ETFs Increase Holdings in Anthropic Ahead of Potential IPO
Investment funds are using special purpose vehicles to acquire shares in private AI company Anthropic before a potential public offering.
Investors are increasingly utilizing exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to gain exposure to Anthropic before the private AI company potentially goes public. This shift is enabled by new regulations allowing ETFs to allocate up to 15% of their portfolios to illiquid securities through special purpose vehicles.
The Corgi Mangoes ETF currently holds the highest allocation of Anthropic shares at approximately 9%. The iShares AI and Tech Active ETF, managed by Tony Kim, maintains a smaller position of about 2%. Market observers note that this strategy mirrors previous investor behavior seen with SpaceX.
This trend coincides with broader growth in the global ETF sector. In the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong recorded 54 new fund launches this year, marking a 20% increase over the previous year. Analysts project that global ETF assets under management will more than double, rising from $24 trillion to $50 trillion by 2035.
