Sony Raises PlayStation 5 Pro Price to $900
Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro to $900 amid memory shortages and high demand for the upcoming GTA 6.
Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro to $900 in April 2026, implementing a broader price hike across the PS5 family. Under the new pricing structure, the disc model costs $650 and the Digital model costs $600.
The company attributed these increases to an industry-wide shortage of NAND and RAM, caused by high demand for memory in AI data centers. This shift departs from traditional console pricing patterns, where hardware typically becomes more affordable over time.
While new consoles are currently sold out at major retailers, GameStop has listed used PS5 Pro units for $1,399. The retailer cited high demand ahead of the upcoming release of GTA 6 as the driver for the inflated secondary market prices.
