BP Appoints Former Shell Executive Emma Lewis to Lead Downstream

BP appointed former Shell executive Emma Lewis as executive vice president of Downstream, effective January 2027, as part of a broader corporate restructuring.

BP appointed former Shell executive Emma Lewis as executive vice president of Downstream, effective January 2027. Lewis will join the company's leadership team to oversee a global portfolio that includes refining, terminals, pipelines, mobility and convenience, aviation, and bioenergy.

The appointment follows a corporate restructuring that reorganized the company into two principal segments, Upstream and Downstream, to reduce complexity and improve operational efficiency. Lewis brings over 25 years of experience from Shell and ExxonMobil to the role. Richard Harding will continue to serve as interim executive vice president of Downstream until Lewis assumes her position.

Lewis stated that her priorities include "strengthening operational performance, maintaining safe and reliable operations, and delivering sustainable value for shareholders."
