First Phosphate Joins G7 Critical Minerals Resilience Alliance
First Phosphate Corp. joined the G7 Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance as part of its strategy to onshore LFP battery supply chains.
First Phosphate Corp. was selected as one of 13 projects for the G7 Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance, a designation aimed at strengthening the security of critical mineral supply chains. The company is pursuing an integrated strategy to establish an onshored lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supply chain, spanning from mine extraction to battery assembly.
To support these goals, the company is advancing mining operations toward a final investment decision and developing a phosphoric acid plant at Port Saguenay. This plant project is being developed with assistance from MAIRE and institutions linked to the Italian government.
Additionally, First Phosphate closed a $15.4 million financing round this week. The funds are earmarked for regional exploration and the Bégin-Lamarche phosphate project in Quebec. Chief Executive Officer John Passalacqua indicated that support from Canada, Denmark, Italy, and the European Union reflects a broader geopolitical shift toward securing essential mineral resources.
