Apple Launches iPhone Duo Foldable With Limited Supply
Apple is releasing the iPhone Duo foldable phone on October 23, facing significant supply constraints and delivery delays extending into January.
Apple Inc. will launch the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, on Friday, October 23. The device features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch matte inner display with a nano-texture finish to minimize the center crease. It is powered by the A20 Pro chip and ships with iOS 27.1, though Apple Pencil (USB-C) support is expected to arrive via iOS 27.2 around October 26.
Supply constraints have led to delivery delays into January and a purchase limit of two devices per customer. While walk-in availability will be limited in the United States, United Kingdom, and other Western markets, regions including China, India, Japan, and South Korea will restrict availability to existing online orders. The device is priced as a premium product, with reports citing starting prices between $1,999 and $2,000, reaching up to $5,899.
Early reviews describe the Duo as a polished but rough early adopter product. Critics highlight the absence of a telephoto lens, the replacement of Face ID with a side-mounted Touch ID sensor, and thermal management issues during intensive tasks. While it outperforms the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 in battery life and water resistance, it is noted as being heavier. Kate Bergeron, Vice President of Hardware Engineering, noted that the folding screen includes a replaceable cover layer, which is listed on AppleCare for $19.
