WhatsApp Tests Message Scheduling Feature for Android Beta
WhatsApp is testing a feature for Android beta users that allows scheduling messages, media, and documents up to two weeks in advance.
WhatsApp is testing a new functionality for Android beta testers that allows users to schedule the delivery of text messages, photos, videos, links, and documents. The feature, currently rolling out in version 2.26.40.7, enables messages to be sent automatically up to two weeks in advance, even if the application is closed or the device is offline.
Users can schedule a message by tapping and holding the send button and selecting a time from a bottom sheet, provided there is a minimum lead time of 10 minutes. While the tool supports group conversations, users are limited to scheduling one media item at a time. The platform may also introduce a dedicated Scheduled messages tab within the chat info screen to allow users to manage or delete pending transmissions.
If a sender deletes a scheduled message before it is sent, the recipient receives no notification. In group chats, only members present at the time of scheduling can view the message; those who join the group later will not see it. Users who do not have the feature can still receive scheduled messages from those who do.
