Apple Plans 11 New Mac Models for AI Demand

Apple is planning a comprehensive overhaul of its Mac lineup over the next two years, introducing 11 new models to meet a resurgence in sales driven by agent-based AI workloads. The refresh cycle begins in fall 2026 with a refreshed entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the M6 chip and the first new iMacs in two years.

Between late 2026 and early 2027, the company expects to launch high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros featuring OLED touchscreens and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. Other upcoming releases include updated MacBook Air models in early 2027 and a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M7 chip later that year. Additionally, Apple is developing a second-generation MacBook Neo for a spring 2027 launch. This budget model will replace the A18 Pro chip with a binned A19 Pro version and increase unified memory from 8GB to 12GB to support advanced local Apple Intelligence features, including improved on-device AI for dictation and Siri.

While the rollout is extensive, updates to the Mac mini and Mac Studio are facing delays due to memory supply constraints. Tim Cook noted that it could take several months to reach a balance between supply and demand for these specific machines.
