India and Armenia Expand Trade and Defense Ties

India and Armenia conducted high-level diplomatic and business consultations in New Delhi to expand cooperation in defense, technology, and trade.

The Government of India and the Government of Armenia conducted the 12th round of Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi on October 30, 2026. Co-chaired by Indian Secretary (West) Sibi George and Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan, the delegations reviewed bilateral relations across trade, investment, artificial intelligence, education, and counter-terrorism.

These diplomatic talks followed a series of strategic engagements. On October 23, officials from the respective ministries of defense met in Hyderabad for a Joint Working Group Meeting on Defence Cooperation to discuss security issues and industrial collaboration. Additionally, on October 29, Mnatsakan Safaryan met with the Confederation of Indian Industry, Invest India, and the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India to promote export diversification and deepen engagement in healthcare, infrastructure, and high technologies.

During the business meetings, Safaryan noted that regional peace has created new opportunities for expanded connectivity. Both nations emphasized the need to establish direct ties between their business communities to better utilize economic potential as they approach the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2027. The two parties agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Armenia.
