Accord Party Mobilizes Support for Adeleke Amid Police Bias Claims

Political figures and party members are mobilizing support for Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, ahead of the governorship election on August 15, 2026. Opeyemi David Falegan, the Accord Party candidate in Ekiti State, urged residents to re-elect Adeleke, citing his achievements in infrastructure and the consistent payment of salaries and pensions.

As part of this mobilization, former All Progressives Congress Senatorial aspirant Peter Ogundeji officially defected to the Accord Party in Osogbo. Ogundeji stated that the governor's administrative performance and commitment to civil servant welfare motivated his decision to leave the APC, while also criticizing the APC's internal candidate selection process.

Parallel to these campaigns, the Accord Party and the Osun State Police Command are locked in a dispute over law enforcement neutrality. Pastor Victor Akande, the party's state chairman, accused security operatives of ignoring violence from opposition thugs while targeting Accord Party members. Akande called on Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to order an impartial investigation into these incidents.

DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, dismissed these allegations as false and misleading. Ojelabi asserted that police operations are intelligence-driven and that the command remains committed to the rule of law without favoring any specific political party.
