Stellantis Unveils Low-Cost EVs to Counter Chinese Rivals

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa presented a new 2030 strategy and affordable electric vehicle concepts to regain market share in Europe and North America.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa unveiled a series of concept cars and production models at a gala event preceding the Paris Motor Show. The presentation signals a recovery strategy intended to reverse years of declining profitability and market share across North America and Europe.

The centerpiece of the reveal is a retro-styled Citroen 2CV concept, which previews a low-cost electric vehicle slated for 2028. Priced at approximately €15,000, the model anchors a new e-car category designed to compete with low-cost Chinese automakers and revitalize the European entry-level market. Other premieres featured models from DS, Fiat, Lancia, Opel, and Chinese partner Leapmotor.

This initiative is part of a broader 2030 business plan that emphasizes cost reductions, distinct brand identities, and deeper cooperation with Chinese partners. Design chief Gilles Vidal stated that the new concepts explore ways to reinforce the unique identity of each brand under the corporate umbrella.
