Superior Town Council Approves 2027 Utility Fee Increases
The Superior Town Council unanimously approved fee increases for water, sewer, and storm drainage services starting March 11.
The Superior Town Council unanimously approved the town's 2027 budget and a series of utility fee increases during its October 12 meeting. Residents will face an average monthly bill increase of approximately $10 beginning March 11.
Specific adjustments include a 9.5% rise in water fees, a 7.5% increase for sewer services, and a 5% increase for storm drainage. The town continues to use a tiered residential water fee system to encourage conservation among residents.
Mayor Mark Lacis attributed the necessity of these increases to unfunded mandates from the state and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. He contrasted the high cost of water management infrastructure with smaller community projects, noting that while playground equipment or shade structures might cost a few hundred thousand dollars, water treatment facilities and pond liners require expenditures of $5 million to $6 million.
