Brookfield Raises $2 Billion for Saudi-Anchored Private Equity Fund
Brookfield Corporation raised $2 billion for its Middle East Partners fund, anchored by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund to target high-growth GCC markets.
Brookfield Corporation raised approximately $2 billion in the first close of its Brookfield Middle East Partners (BMEP) private equity fund. The fund is anchored by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and other global and regional institutional partners, with Brookfield committing $500 million of the total capital.
BMEP targets buyouts and minority growth-equity transactions within the Gulf Cooperation Council, specifically earmarking 50% of its investments for Saudi Arabia. The fund will focus on sectors including healthcare, technology, industrials, financial services, and consumer services. This initiative supports PIF's 2026-2030 strategy to diversify the Saudi capital market and increase private-sector participation.
As part of the partnership, Brookfield will introduce the Brookfield Academy to Saudi Arabia to provide professional learning opportunities for local partners. The expansion continues despite regional instability linked to the Iran war. Brookfield recently engaged in further regional activity via a $16 billion consortium agreement with Blackstone Inc. and KKR & Co. Inc. to lease pipelines from the Kuwait Oil Company.
