SBI Funds Management Debuts on Indian Stock Market
SBI Funds Management listed on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange on July 21, 2026, following a record-breaking ₹9,813 crore initial public offering.
SBI Funds Management Ltd, India's largest asset management company, debuted on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange on July 21, 2026. The stock listed between Rs 610 and Rs 613.30, representing a premium of 6.3% to 6.85% over the Rs 574 issue price. This debut was muted compared to grey market expectations of 10% to 18.1% gains, occurring amid volatile broader market conditions.
The ₹9,813 crore initial public offering was the largest of 2026 and consisted entirely of an offer-for-sale by the State Bank of India and Amundi. The IPO was heavily oversubscribed 41.66 times, with nearly ₹3 trillion in total bid value. Qualified Institutional Buyers showed the strongest demand, subscribing their portion 140.11 times.
The offering was notable for its record-low investment banker fees of 46.25 million rupees, approximately 0.04% to 0.05% of the issue size. While firms like Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase declined to participate due to the low compensation, a syndicate of nine banks managed the deal for league table credit. Analysts suggest the company remains well-positioned for long-term growth, citing a 15.1% market share and the gradual shift of Indian household savings toward financial assets.
