Chief Minister Manik Saha and Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the two-day Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 on July 9 at the International Fair Grounds in Agartala. The summit aims to attract investment proposals totaling nearly Rs 1 lakh crore, building on preliminary proposals exceeding Rs 70,000 crore and previous roadshows in cities like New Delhi and Bengaluru.

The event drew approximately 1,200 business leaders and diplomats from nations including Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, and South Africa, with participation from corporations such as Tata Consultancy Services and Salesforce. During the inaugural session, Scindia described Tripura as a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia and the ASEAN region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Act East Policy. He cited infrastructure projects like the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project and the Maitri Setu bridge as catalysts for growth, noting that Tripura's Gross State Domestic Product has nearly doubled to approximately Rs 90,000 crore.

Focusing on healthcare, renewable energy, IT, and tourism, the conclave saw the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding in rubber, food processing, and tourism. Saha also announced plans to meet with Bangladesh High Commissioner M. Riaz Hamidullah to further cross-border trade and economic cooperation.
