India MEI Sector Salary Increments to Hit 9.4 Percent

Salary increments in India's Manufacturing, Engineering and Infrastructure (MEI) sector are projected to rise to 9.4 percent in FY27, increasing from 7.9 percent the previous year. According to a report by TeamLease Services, this growth is fueled by semiconductor expansion, a recovery in project activity, and the adoption of Industry 4.0 capabilities.
Project Engineers are expected to experience the highest growth at 10.7 percent, followed by Site Engineers and EHS Officers at 10.1 percent. At a functional level, Engineering leads with 9.9 percent growth, marginally ahead of IT at 9.8 percent and Finance at 9.5 percent. Geographically, the highest increments are concentrated in Gurgaon and Coimbatore, at 10.9 percent and 10.8 percent respectively.
Balasubramanian A, Senior Vice President of TeamLease Services, noted that the market is placing an increasing premium on specialized capabilities. He stated that professionals who can translate capital investments into operational outcomes, whether through digitally enabled engineering systems or on the factory floor, are seeing higher rewards as organizations seek long-term competitiveness through execution capabilities.
