BJP President Nainar Nagendran Faces Backlash Over Vijay Remarks
Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran sparked controversy after making derogatory comments about the parentage of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay.
Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran sparked a political controversy on Saturday after making derogatory remarks regarding the parentage of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. Speaking at the BJP state headquarters, Kamalalayam, Nagendran stated that when people cannot find a father in the house, they should ask the mother to find out who the father is.
The comments were a response to a short story Vijay previously narrated in the Assembly, which mocked DMK president M K Stalin following Stalin's electoral defeat in the Kolathur constituency during the April 2026 Assembly election.
Nagendran's remarks drew condemnation from across the political spectrum. Minister A Rajmohan described the comments as uncivilised and inappropriate, while former BJP president K Annamalai labeled the attack on a leader's mother as third-rate politics that vulgarizes the political arena. A complaint has since been filed against Nagendran at the DGP Office.
