Rep. Max Miller Faces Domestic Abuse and Child Misconduct Allegations

U.S. Representative Max Miller of Ohio faces multiple accusations of domestic violence and child abuse. His ex-wife, Emily Moreno, alleges that Miller physically abused her, threw hot water on her, and once held a gun to her head. These claims are supported by police footage and court filings stemming from a child custody dispute. Additionally, a 2026 investigation examined a broken collarbone suffered by the couple's two-year-old daughter; while a physician noted the injury required a high degree of impact, the investigation was ultimately unsubstantiated.

Former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham also accused Miller of physical abuse during a 2020 relationship. Miller has denied all allegations and filed defamation lawsuits against both Moreno and Grisham. In response to protective orders filed by Moreno, Miller launched a counter-suit challenging her psychological stability.

Republican leadership has avoided condemning Miller. House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed inquiries about Miller and Representative Cory Mills, stating the claims are merely allegations. Similarly, Senator Bernie Moreno, the father of Emily Moreno, has not demanded Miller's resignation, though he stated that protecting his daughter is his top priority. The refusal to act has drawn accusations of a double standard, contrasting with the recent resignations of Representatives Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales over misconduct.
