Irish Ministers Finalize Budget 2027 Tax and Spending Package
Taoiseach Micheál Martin and senior ministers are meeting to finalize a 1.5 billion euro tax package and cost-of-living supports for Budget 2027.
Micheál Martin and senior coalition ministers met on October 5, 2026, to resolve the final details of Budget 2027. The Taoiseach, Finance Minister Simon Harris, and Public Expenditure Minister Jack Chambers collaborated with Department of Finance officials to refine a 1.5 billion euro tax package and various cost-of-living supports.
Discussions focused on the allocation between income tax cuts and other relief measures, the possible inclusion of energy credits, and specific housing supports for first-time buyers. Minister Norma Foley advocated for additional reductions in childcare costs, seeking to expand upon the already secured annual saving of approximately 1,000 euro for children up to senior infants.
The finalized budget will be formally presented in the Dáil on Tuesday. The presentation begins at 1 p.m. with a speech by Simon Harris, followed by a presentation from Jack Chambers.
