Lam Research and Fujifilm Invest in India Semiconductor Facilities

Lam Research and Fujifilm are investing over ₹10,800 crore to establish semiconductor manufacturing and materials facilities in India to bolster the local electronics ecosystem.

Lam Research is investing ₹10,000 crore to establish a silicon component manufacturing facility in India. The site will support a vertically integrated process, including silicon ingot production and processing for advanced semiconductor technologies and leading-edge nodes. This initiative includes expanding the company's R&D capabilities through the existing Lam India Center for Engineering.

To build a local workforce, the company is partnering with the Indian Institute of Science and the India Semiconductor Mission to train 60,000 students via the Semiverse Solutions virtual platform. Lam Research also launched a Skill Development Program to create high-technology manufacturing jobs.

In a separate development, Fujifilm is investing approximately ₹800 crore to build a semiconductor materials manufacturing facility. Aligned with the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, Fujifilm will use a two-phase investment strategy based on customer demand. Construction for the first phase is scheduled to begin in the 2026 financial year, with commercial production targeted for the 2028 fiscal year. The company aims to provide one-stop solutions for both cutting-edge and legacy nodes by leveraging its global supply network.
