Intuit Launches QuickBooks Free Tier for Solo Business Owners

Intuit QuickBooks launched a no-cost accounting software tier called QuickBooks Free, targeting freelancers, solo business owners, and new startups moving away from manual spreadsheets. The free plan allows users to connect one bank account, track transactions, and generate essential financial reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.

To maintain the free model, Intuit limits the plan to a single user and imposes strict monthly caps on specific activities. Users are restricted to two invoices, two receipt captures, and five mileage trips per month.

Business owners requiring more extensive capabilities can upgrade to paid tiers, such as Lite, Simple Start, or Online Plus. These paid versions provide unlimited invoicing, multi-user access, and advanced reporting tools. Intuit is currently promoting these upgrades with a 30-day free trial or a 50% discount for the first three months of a subscription.
