Sony Group Corp. to Skip 2027 CES Technology Show

Sony Group Corp. will skip the 2027 CES technology show in Las Vegas, ending a presence at the electronics showcase that dates back to the inaugural 1967 conference. The company is shifting its strategic focus toward entertainment content, intellectual property, and technology for creators, specifically within its games, music, and film divisions.

This decision follows the collapse of a joint venture with Honda Motor Co. to develop the Afeela electric vehicle. Established in 2022, the automotive project was scrapped this year. Sony previously utilized the event to promote its AI-powered services and automotive collaborations.

Regarding the shift in strategy, the company stated, "We continuously and strategically evaluate our approach to events and communications based on the needs and priorities of our diverse business."
