Poland Launches Electronic Entry Exit System at Terespol Border

The Polish Border Guard Service has implemented the Entry Exit System (EES) at the Terespol border crossing point between Poland and Belarus. The system registers entries and exits for non-Schengen citizens arriving for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period, regardless of whether the travelers use a visa or a visa-free regime.

The EES collects biometric data, including fingerprints and facial photographs, to replace traditional passport stamps with electronic verification. Major Dariusz Senicki of the Nadbuzhanski department confirmed that the system is operating in a full-fledged mode rather than a test mode.

Travelers and social media users reported significant increases in queues and crossing times beginning around November 8, 2025. Officials attribute these delays to the initial data entry requirements. Despite the current congestion, officials maintain that the system will increase security and speed up border control in the long term.
