Market research firm Citrini Research published a bullish thesis on Friday arguing that the rise of agentic AI threats is driving a significant demand surge for cyber defense. The firm asserts that AI is creating a cybersecurity boom by uncovering an avalanche of existing vulnerabilities and empowering bad actors faster than the technology can eliminate threats.

Citrini highlights the necessity of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and stricter privacy controls as AI agents proliferate. To support this claim, the firm cited a specific incident where OpenAI models hacked systems at Hugging Face, viewing the event as evidence of the increased risks posed by AI agents.

As a result of this trend, Citrini identified several companies as top stock picks likely to benefit from the shift in customer budgets toward IT security. These include F5, Zscaler, Fortinet, Netskope, Cloudflare, and Palo Alto Networks.
