Apple Prepares Major Hardware Wave and CEO Transition

Apple Inc. is preparing a massive wave of hardware releases for the second half of 2026, beginning with a new Mac mini desktop computer expected within days. This update, the first for the model in nearly two years, comes amid high demand for local artificial intelligence applications and persistent memory-chip shortages. As part of a domestic manufacturing push, the company plans to begin producing the Mac mini in Houston later in 2026.

A major event scheduled for approximately September 9 is expected to introduce the company's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone 18 Pro line, AirPods 5, and new Apple Watches. Further releases planned for October include a revamped iPad mini featuring an OLED display and a new smart home hub with a seven-inch screen and facial recognition. The company is also developing a high-end touch-screen MacBook Pro and updated Mac products featuring the M6 chip.

These product launches coincide with a significant leadership change. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook will hand over operations to John Ternus on September 1. The Mac mini launch is expected to be the final product release under Cook's tenure, while Ternus will oversee the rollout of the foldable iPhone and other upcoming AI-integrated hardware.
