China Attributes Nepal Border Mudslide to Glacier Collapse

The Chinese foreign ministry rejected foreign media speculation and attributed a severe mudslide at the Gyirong-Rasuwa border crossing to a high-altitude glacier collapse in Nepal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China rejected foreign media speculation regarding the causes of a severe mudslide disaster at the Gyirong-Rasuwa border crossing between China and Nepal. Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Monday that such claims lacked a factual basis.

According to assessments conducted by experts and official institutions from both China and Nepal, the mudslide was triggered by the collapse of a high-altitude glacier located in Nepal.
