Jet2 Plans Main Market Move Amid Strong Summer Demand

Jet2 intends to move its listing from the Alternative Investment Market to the main market following a resilient summer season with increased passenger bookings.

Travel operator Jet2 announced its intention to move its listing from the Alternative Investment Market to the main market. The move is intended to increase scale and liquidity while positioning the company for membership in the FTSE 250.

The company reported strong performance during the peak summer season, with booked-to-date passengers increasing by 8.8 percent. Summer seat capacity rose 7.6 percent to 19.9 million. Steve Heapy stated the company has been "encouraged by the sustained level of demand" for its holiday products, which provides confidence for the remainder of the financial year.

This growth comes despite industry-wide disruptions from rising oil prices and conflict in the Middle East. To manage fuel cost volatility, Jet2 hedged 93 percent of its fuel for the year ending March 2027 at an average price of $753. In contrast, Ryanair warned that elevated fuel prices could trigger higher airfares across Europe and potentially cause the collapse of some rival airlines.
