Anthropic Reports Revenue Jump Ahead of Potential $2 Trillion IPO
Anthropic reported a 45% third-quarter revenue increase and is pitching a potential $2 trillion IPO to investors amid massive compute liabilities.
Anthropic reported a 45% increase in third-quarter revenue to $16.8 billion during a series of investor presentations at its San Francisco headquarters on October 14, 2026. The company is preparing for a potential initial public offering as early as November, which could raise up to $100 billion and reach a valuation of approximately $2 trillion. Investors project the company's annualized revenue will exceed $110 billion by year-end, following a steady climb from $5.7 billion in the first quarter and $11.6 billion in the second.
Despite the growth, financial disclosures reveal significant liabilities. Anthropic reported a $42 billion net loss in 2025 and faces $518 billion in non-cancelable compute spending commitments over the next decade. To manage equipment leases, the company utilized a $60 billion financing package from Broadcom Inc. Market analysts are currently evaluating whether the IPO is a strategic move of strength or a necessity to fund these massive debts.
The listing occurs during a period of high volatility for the AI sector. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan warned that rising interest rates could constrain capital access for AI firms. Additionally, Anthropic faces pricing pressure from Meta Platforms Incorporated and low-cost Chinese models, as well as competition from OpenAI, which recently revised its revenue to $50 billion and plans its own public debut in 2027.
