Brad Lander Defeats Dan Goldman in New York Primary

Former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander won the Democratic primary for New York's 10th Congressional District on June 23, 2026. With 92% of votes counted, Lander secured 65.8% of the vote, defeating incumbent Representative Dan Goldman, who received 34%.

Goldman conceded the race during a speech in Lower Manhattan, where he urged Democratic unity and warned that antisemitic tropes could undermine democracy. The campaign was defined by ideological fractures over Israel, with Lander pressuring Goldman to characterize Israel's actions as genocide. The race also involved debates over Zionism and allegations regarding funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

The Jewish Democratic Council of America later attributed the losses of Goldman and fellow endorsed candidate Adriano Espaillat to their support for Israel.
